Isomolded Plates

A Isomolded graphite plate is a fuel cell component this is attached to the electrode backings of a fuel cell stack. Graphite plate acts as a conductor by receiving energy from the electrodes and guides the flow of the hydrogen and oxygen through their respective ends of the stack, making sure that the maximum amount of the gasses and moisture comes in contact with the membrane.

What does isomolded mean?

Iso-molded is a hybrid term that reflects how some artificial graphite is made: "Iso" being short for iso-static, is an engineering phrase reflecting constant pressure on all sides while "molded means it is cold pressed by molding. So, iso-molded graphite is cold iso-statically pressed graphite. This is done because it allows for uniform properties in all grain directions. This differs from extruded which is pushed through a die and has varying properties in different grain directions. Iso-molded graphite is used for specialty applications where uniformity is required.
