The most cost effective and high performance electrode engineered for anion exchange membrane fuel cells. It can also be used for alkaline fuel cells or with liquid electrolyte (flow-through or static). This electrode is comprised of a carbon paper substrate and platinum black electrocatalyst. This loading is used in electrochemical systems requiring higher performance levels that can be achieved with lower loadings of supported catalysts. Use of Fumion dispersion within the electrocatalyst layer greatly improves the hydroxyl ion conductivity for the anode and cathode electrochemical reactions and hence superb reaction kinetics. The first of its kind in the fuel cell and battery industries.

The Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL) used is a PTFE treated carbon paper with MPL that is designed for high performance fuel cell applications, which is 200 microns thick. PTFE treatment on the base fabric and MPL layer makes this substrate ideally suited for anion exchange membrane fuel cells, alkaline fuel cells, or battery applications using liquid electrolytes and gaseous reactants. Other GDL materials are also available by custom request, as are custom sizes and catalyst loadings.

This alkaline electrode has the Fumion anion exchange ionomer in the bromide form and it needs to be converted to hydroxide form before its testing.
