4 mg/cm² Platinum Ruthenium Black - Alkaline Paper Electrode (MGL370)
An advanced and high performance electrode engineered for anion exchange membrane or alkaline fuel cells that are utilizing solid membranes and liquid fuels such as ammonia borane, sodium borohydride, and other chemical hydrides. Platinum ruthenium black based alkaline electrodes can also be used for direct alcohol alkaline fuel cells such as direct methanol alkaline fuel cell or direct ethanol alkaline fuel cells due to PtRu's catalytic activity towards electrochemical oxidation of such simple alcohols. This electrode is comprised of a carbon paper substrate (Molded Graphite Laminate without any PTFE treatment) and platinum ruthenium black electrocatalyst. High catalyst loading and engineered electrode layer deliver the desired performance. Use of Fumion dispersion within the electrocatalyst layer greatly improves the hydroxyl ion conductivity for the anode and cathode electrochemical reactions and hence superb reaction kinetics. The first of its kind in the fuel cell industry.
• 4 mg/cm² Platinum Ruthenium Black on one of our high performance carbon paper based gas diffusion layer
• Fumion post-coat for improved hydroxyl ion transfer at the interphase of membrane and electrode
The Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL) used is an untreated carbon paper without MPL, which is 370 microns thick. No PTFE treatment on the base fabric makes this substrate ideally suited for applications using liquid reactant transferred anode or cathode that needs the diffusion medium to be wettable. Other GDL materials are also available by custom request, as are custom sizes and catalyst loadings.
This alkaline electrode has the Fumion anion exchange ionomer in the bromide form and it needs to be converted to hydroxide form before its testing.
Do you use liquid alkaline electrolyte or liquid fuel in your application? We can engineer our catalyzed alkaline electrodes for your custom needs.
