50% Platinum Ruthenium on High Surface Area Ketjenblack EC-300J is most commonly used as the catalyst for methanol oxidation in Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFC).  This catalyst has a standard 1:1 atomic ratio.

Platinum Ruthenium (PtRu) carbon supported alloy electrocatalysts have shown improved tolerance to CO contaminated hydrogen fuel streams as compared to Platinum (Pt) at the anode of low temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC).
