This product is no longer actively made by the manufacturer. It has been replaced by the ElectroHy Anode Electrode (2nd Gen).
ElectroHy AEM anode electrode is designed for AEM electrolysis applications. It does not contain any precious metals and uses earth-abundant Fe and Ni as the electrochemically active materials (in the form of NiFeOx). These self-supported electrodes can also function as porous transport layers. It is meant to be used as-is, without any specific steps required for activation. Standard availability is 20x20cm size.
Technical specifications:
- Thickness: 270 µm
- Electrochemically Active Materials: NiFeOx
- Support: Compressed Ni foam
Performance (three-electrode setup configuration):
The following polarization curve demonstrates the electrochemical performance of the ElectroHy anode electrode.

Linear sweep voltammetry test of a single cell using a 60 µm membrane

Durability test results:
The AEM electrolyzers using ElectroHy anode electrodes show high performance and high durability (see longevity graph below). This durability test was carried out at a current density of 1A/cm2 using 1M KOH at 60°C.

Instructions:
Both sides of the electrode are active, and there is no directionality or direction dependency. A guillotine trimmer or heavy-duty scissors can be used to cut down the electrodes to smaller sizes. It is important that the sharp points present at the edges of the electrode after cutting are facing away from the anion exchange membrane in order to prevent damage to the membrane during the cell assembly. Alkaline-resistant planar gasketing or O-rings should be used with this electrode during its operation with 1 Molar alkaline electrolytes.
