Direct Methanol Fuel Cell MEA - 3 Layer (Tion5-W)
Methanol (MeOH) can be utilized directly (without the need for a reformer) with Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA) for power generation applications. It also allows a liquid fuel to be used directly in a fuel cell instead of a gaseous fuel. The DMFC MEA is often useful in lower power applications.
Direct Methanol Fuel Cell MEA - 3 Layer (Tion5-W) is manufactured with a 127 microns (or 0.005") thick perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) membrane. Tion5-W membrane not only cuts down the methanol crossover issues compared to other thinner PFSA membranes, but it also provides good performance compared to other thicker PFSA membranes.
The standard configuration for this 3-layer MEA features a high Platinum loading (4 mg/cm²) both for the cathode and a high Platinum Ruthenium Black loading (4 mg/cm²) for anode sides to obtain high performance and long lifetime.
This 3-layer MEA can also be used for PEM DMFC electrolyzer applications in order to electrochemically oxidize the methanol for hydrogen generation applications, where another fuel cell stack can consume this generated H2 gas directly and generate electrical energy.
Custom sizes and configurations are also available with no minimum order quantities and short lead times even for custom configurations.
