The BT-115 Conductivity Cell holds the sample test membrane that can be built into your typical fuel cell hardware. It can be connected to the standard test stand to control and measure various parameters. The advantage of the BT-115 is the ability to distinguish voltage drop between ion creation and ion flow, leading to more accurate assessment of membrane conductivity and resistance. It may be used with most 5, 10, and 25cm² fuel cell test hardware. Connect the platinum wires to your potentiostat to apply voltage and measure current. The Conductivity Cell is designed for an in-plane, four-electrode measurement.
The advantage of the 4-electrode in-plane conductivity measurement is the ability to measure impedance (resistance) due only to charge transport and exclude interfacial and charge transfer resistances. By considering only resistance due to ion transport, accurate assessment of in-plane membrane conductivity can be made.
